THE BEST FOOD & CRAFT PHOTOGRAPHY BACKDROP STORES

When I share my pictures on Instagram, I often get asked where I source my photography backdrops from. I thought it would be good to put together a list of my favourite backdrop brands for food & craft photography. These are the online backdrop stores that I have bought from myself or some brands that I would love to buy from in the near future.

If you’re looking for some super budget-friendly options, you can surely try making your own photography backdrops. However, keep in mind that it will take quite a bit of time to source all the materials and create them. You also have to be prepared that it may take more than one attempt to create a backdrop you have envisioned. Plus, some of the stores I share below create unique food and craft photography backdrops that would be very difficult to recreate yourself.

If you don’t have the time or skills required for DIY photography backdrops and would instead buy one, this blog post is for you!

Here are my favourite brands!

  • WOODVILLE BACKDROPS - hands down, my favourite online backdrop store! Their backdrops are all super-rich in textures, which is essential for food and craft photography (see some examples above). Woodville offers different plastic and plywood backdrops imitating tile, stone, concrete, marble, rustic, and wood textures. The plywood ones come double-sided, which is so handy.

Have in mind, though, that the plywood backdrops are not rollable. Before ordering, make sure you have enough space at home to store them. Also, the company is based in Russia, so depending on where you live in the world and how many backdrops you order, you may have to pay extra taxes.

  • CLUB BACKDROPS - this UK based photography vinyl backdrop store offers some super funky and colourful backdrops alongside the more simple ones. They often have the 3 for 2 offer, making them one of the most budget-friendly options out there!

  • CAPTURE BY LUCY - I have quite a few of their backdrops, and I love them! Beautiful textures, light, and easy to clean and store. My favourite one is Latte Marble (used in the image below, on the left-hand side), but they have many others that will be perfect for your food and craft photography. They are based in the UK, so if you live here and you need something quickly, this could be an excellent option for you!

  • BUREAU_48 is a photography backdrop brand that I recently came across, and I can't wait to order from them. Bureau 48 backdrops are so unique. Extra special! You have to go to their online store and see it yourself. My words won't do justice!

Like Woodville's backdrops, they also come double-sided, but you don't have as many options to choose from (for the other side) as you have with Woodville photography backdrops. Have in mind, they also come from Russia, so make sure to check if taxes are applicable for you.

  • FABRIC BACKGROUNDS - I often use fabric pieces and tablecloths as my photography backdrops for that cozy home look. Etsy, H&M, Magic Linen, and Fodory are my favourite shops to source them.

  • WOODROW STUDIOS is another UK-based backdrop company that I would like to try in the near future. They have some beautiful rustic and moody backdrops made with ply, so if that’s something that suits your style, I would recommend checking their online store.

  • FONDOS PARA FOTOGRAFOS - I haven't tried this store myself, but it has been suggested by my fellow food photographer when I was looking for some good-quality backdrops. They specialise in rollable plastic backdrops and have many beautiful textures to choose from. I'm definitely ordering some! Fondos Para Ftogorafos is a Spanish brand, so this could be an excellent option for the folks living in the EU!
